On April 21, the Signing Ceremony of Deepening Cooperation Memorandum Between Wuhan University Library and the School of Information Management, and Professor Chuanfu Chen’s Academic Report Meeting was held. The cooperation between Wuhan University Library and the SIM has a long history, good inheritance and fruitful results. He said that Wuhan University Library would follow the requirements of cooperation, be realistic and forge ahead, and promote the high-quality development of both sides.
Wei Lu, Dean of the SIM, Wuhan University, said that the School and the Library have supported each other and made progress together in the historical development, thus forming a deep friendship. He pointed out that in the era of big data, taking the initiative to carry out all-round cooperation with industry was not only a requirement for implementing the high-quality connotation development of Wuhan University, but also an important measure to promote the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the School, and an important guarantee for building a world-class discipline. Deepening this cooperation would inject new vitality into the development of the School. The two sides will carry out all-round cooperation in discipline construction, personnel training and team building, scientific research and influence enhancement based on the principle of "complementary advantages, co-construction and sharing, openness, cooperation and win-win". The Library strives to ensure the literature resources, digital resources and information services required for the construction of the first-class discipline of Library, Information, and Archives Management, and supports the construction of the SIM Branch Library in all directions; Provide necessary support for the discipline development, teaching reform and curriculum system construction of the School, and participate in the construction of majors and degree points of the School. As the School practice and teaching base, the Library provides places and guidance for all kinds of practice training and teaching. The School leads, unites and supports the Library to carry out scientific research; The Library provides practice scenes and application evaluation for the transformation and application of related scientific research achievements, and assists in application promotion; The two sides will focus on strengthening research cooperation in library management, smart library construction, digital literacy, digitization of ancient books, digital humanities and other fields, and jointly build the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University. In addition, the two sides will jointly hold international and domestic academic conferences and build various application platforms to enhance academic influence.

After the Signing Ceremony, Chuanfu Chen gave an academic report on Open Science and University Library. Through the reform case of Harvard University Library, he introduced the new environment, new challenges and new opportunities faced by the library under the background of open science, discussed the development trend of the library community, proposed that the library should build a more professional, credible, user-involved and seamless library based on its own brand, resources, system and team advantages, and explored the theoretical thinking of library service innovation, governance issues, environmental integration, value transfer and social responsibility. A large amount of data, rich materials and cutting-edge views have brought us a splendid academic feast.
